Hey everyone,

I have a 00 monte SS and am problems with sensors and/or some part of my break system.  Everytime I put my car in drive (and not before) my "trac off", ABS, and "service traction system" lights come on.  In addition, very rarely I feel a slight tug/yank in my break pedal.  I have went to autozone among others and they all keep telling me I have to have chevy hook it up to the computer.  I went to Chevy and they want $80.  Does anyone know how to get around this?  Also, what do you think the most likely problem is?  Thanks a lot

Hi Everyone,

So..I went to Chevy and they told me I need a front right wheel hub and assembly because my ABS sensor is broken.  They gave me an estimate of like $800.  That seems too high for a sensor.  I know people in town that could do the work but the cost of the parts is still like $400-450.  Can anyone tell me the best/cheapest place to get these parts.  I have thought of ebay or local junkyard but I wondered if anyone else had a better idea or solution.

Also...does Chevy's assessment seem right?  It seems very expensive for a sensor (I do realize its part of the hub).

Any help would be greatly appreciated....thank you

i just replaced my hub on my 02 ss and it only costed 80.00 brand new. A sensor probally would only cost a couple hundred at the most.

i have the same problem on my 2002 monte carlo... i changed to the wheel hub assembly where the wheel speed sensor is located and it did not fix it... i paid 120 bucks for it...  i was told there is some kind of bulletin from the manufacturer that says the wiring harness which runs to the speed sensor needs to be replace for these symptoms... i havent had the money to do so right now.. but they are 50 bucks  for each side at the dealer... supposedly the harness rubs on something and wears it down bad.. hope this helps
