Well just posting say (happily) that today I calculated my gas mileage and got 225 miles on 11.25 gallon of regular gas. After owning my Silverado 1500 Z71  X cab 4x4 for a few months I always got 13 14 15 mpg average.  And I am not really a lead foot. I checked it 4 tanks in a row with consistant results. Then I ran 2 tanks in a row of super fuel injector cleaner and changed the oil over to Amsoil 5w- 30 , Changed the transmission over to Amsoil Universal Sythetic ATF and switched the rear end to Amsoil Severe gear 75w 90. Not hauling I am now getting 20 mpg. I am immpressed!

That is impressive.  I have always heard good things about Amsoil.

Did you use a programmer as well?

Very easy... less friction in the driveline. and not as thick during warmup. basically the motor and trans will run with the same ease when cold as they would when nice and warm, ya dig? But also,  I do strongly recommend Amsoil not:  wally world mobil one.

I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75 W 90 in the rearend with NO friction modifier because mine is the G80 auto locking rear differential and your not supposed to add anything per owners manual. other wise I think a guy might need the limited slip additive from GM for the standard differential. As for the front axle its still conventional oil since I dont use  4WD all the time maybe 10 or 12 times a year.

Mobil 1 is factory fill in Corvettes and Vipers and will do just fine in your Chevy truck.  I use 5w-30 in my Z71 and change at 10,000 miles.

rod man:This might sound crazy... but I change my Amsoil every 12 to 14,000 miles. Look into it,  Amsoil is the way! check out performanceoiltechnology.com
