Slammedcav97 -> Car bogs when I turn steering wheel. (1/14/2007 11:31:25 PM)

When I am drivin stright or just sitting in neutral and turn the steering wheel it starts to bog out and feels as if it wants to stall. when I started is this morning it was at a normal idle for about a min and then i noticed the whole engine was rocking back and fourth, Anyone have anyidea what it could be?

First thing first... when you cold started in the morning was the car running at idle rpm or was it at higher rpm then came down to idle rpm after a minute ?

It was at a normal idle. then after about a min it started to bog out.

There's your problem... the car should start of at cold start idle of approx. 1200 rpm then come down to approx. 800 rpm.

Well I have a Apexi Rpm and Speed meter thats electronic. and my RPMs are always around 920? rpms to about 1000rpms from what I see. But I don't get wht it would bog out to almost a complete stall when i turn a corner

Does this problem only occur when the engine is cold?  Does it only occur at idle or in neutral?

It happens when I turn the wheel driving or in nutral, cold engine or normal running temp

Does your steering, by chance, feel harder to turn when the car is not moving than usual?  I'd hazard a guess that your power steering system is creating resistance somewhere along the way.  Do you happen to be low on fluid?  Additionally, I'm not sure how it is on this particular vehicle, but there's usually some sort of vacuum connection that raises the idle to compensate for the increased drag caused by the power steering pump.  Is yours leaking/plugged?
