Ive got a 02 2500HD and Im having some sort of issue with the four wheel drive..
All of a sudden my 4x4 doesnt feel right, the steering wheel moves back and forth every 30 seconds.. while driving on snowy roads....especially with a trailer. Feels like front end keep slipping or tripping on its self..
At first I figured my rear tires were to low on tread compared to the fronts, I went out and bought two new tires now the other two are that much less than the other new two..it didnt work...

Ive tried putting one on front and one on back with the same results..

Do I really need to get absolutely even tires with this HD because of the diffs... A friend of mine has bald rears and new fronts but its a 1500 and his works fine..

please help. I see lots of people are having transfer case issues but they dont sound like this..

thanks for listening..

Does it only do it at certain speeds? If so it could be a broken belt inside your tire you won't see it but its there. another thing is check your sway bar it could be loose or broken. hope this helps

Thanks for the info,But
This is more serious than just the steering wheel shaking back and forth, its like the truck trips on itself or drags a tire every 30 seconds...and the wheel pulls to one side... and I have to correct it..

On a side note.. How do the rear diffs work? sometimes I notice if Im spinning the right tire (say on snow) and it applies the left... after that for a while the rear end is locked in.. this doesnt happen often but when it does the rears drag in a parking lot..

anyone have diff issues? hubs? should I have the diff fluid changed. could this be an issue?

Ps. Im a vw/audi tech, just dont have enough info on this 4x4 system..
