Lost it’s power to pass

97 Tahoe. Remanufactured Engine installed May 2003. Transmission has new Valve module same time. Less than 40K miles since install.

Recently noted: While trying to pass, RPM's jump up but speed decreases. If you allow RPM's to come back down, it re-engages. But not to the point of safely passing. Like it has a loss of power. Otherwise operation is normal. Had checked at local transmission shop. Claim no problem with Tranny...it's engine problem.

Could it? What else should I check?

Might be a fuel pressure problem. had a similar problem with my chevelle at the drag strip once. I changed a lot of parts before i discovered a bad gas cap one day. I went to fuel it up and when i opened the cap there was a sucking sound as air rushed into the tank. The cap wasnt venting so no air could get in so no fuel could get out. I changed the cap and solved the problem. So, look at the cap, fuel filter,or other fuel system parts. also these years of tahoes have had fuel pump problems. Maybe yours is on its way out. Its in the tank. Listen to see if its noisy when the engine is running.

You might of been on the right track. (And thanks for the reply)

Today I changed the sparkplugs, rotor and cap and FUEL FILTER! All parts replaced today only had about 40K miles on them, but I guess when your towing parts can break down faster. She's running like a champ again!!

Glad you got it running good again. Ive seen fuel filters plug up in as little as 20,000 miles.
