I bought My '69 Camaro in 1984 for $1500. it had a 454 automatic that I pulled out and gave back to the Guy I bought the car from. He sold it to Me for that price if I gave Him the engine back. I found some previous owners who had everything from a 302 to a 454 in it. I did My homework and found that it was a factory big block car with a standard transmission ( the clutch pedal was still in the car under the carpet ). It's Daytona Yellow ( original color - not paint ) and has no signs of ever being a SS ( no emblems - only bowties ) inside or out. It has an X66 body code or at least I remember that number and a 4.10 posi 12 bolt rear with 5 leaf springs. I built a 427 for it with '68 dated closed chamber Rectangular port headsand 10.25-1 compression. I put a Borg warner suoer T-10 with a Hurst shifter to keep it as close to factory as possible ( can't keep a Muncie trans alive ) It's a tub, about 3700 pounds but runs 11.80's at 114 in the quarter. I am suspicous that it could be a COPO but cannot document enough to make it legit. It's parked in My garage and has been for 12 years now. I've had a lot of Hot Rods and still enjoy them. I've always loved the Chevelle. My second new car was a '68 SS396-375 horse 4 speed, Maroon with white stripes and a black Interior. Made a Chevy lover out of Me. Thanks for listening.
