Did the first chassis dyno run on the 454 today.  Turbo 400 2.71 gears 29.5 tires…RPM limiter at 4500 138 mph.   93 octane pump gas….

232 hp @ 3850 rpms.
496 lbs ft torque @ 1550 rpms…

Torque was above 400 ft lbs thru 2900 rpms…

@1550 rpms = 146 HP
@3850 rpms = 317 Lbs Ft torque

We had a dip in torque 2600-2800….not sure what that’s all about…

2550-414
2600-408
2650-404
2700-402
2750-405
2800-411
2850-414
2900-410
2950-398

Over all satisfied as the cam is a torque profile cam…crower 278Hyd flat tappet, 9.33 comp ratio, performer oval port, HEI, holly 750, headers…

Am thinking need fatter secondary jetting and or a lighter secondary spring.

Hello all. My car doesn't have a 454, just a 191 V6, but I was wondering what RAT454 thought, if anything, about that whole "gross vs net" power thing, and maybe the "wheel vs flywheel" thing. I've tried to do some research on my own, and come to the conclusion that since every chassis dyno run of a car equipped with a GM big-block has shown measured figures matching (not perfectly, of course, but darn close) advertised figures, that would seem to qualify them as wheel-rated, despite what I seem to read here and there. Granted, I'm sure there are a few that exaggerate or go the other way, but your dyno run seems to support what I thought.
   Also wondering if you might have done a run on an engine dyno with one of those engines, or maybe one on a chassis dyno, with stock or factory-spec camshaft and all.
   For the record, I'm an amateur, and don't know much about camshafts other than being pretty sure my car has one, since it's been repaired  :)
