That's what the dealer told me. Said it could drain the battery. Why would they design it that way? Seems crazy.

It wasn't designed that way and the key left in the ignition won't drain the battery so long as it is in the "off" position.
There is a theft deterrent module that uses a very tiny amount of electricity to check for the proper ignition key but it doesn't draw any more power than the clock memory.

Dave this is in no way a stab at you.

I don't like how I have to have the ignition turned on for the kids to watch a movie.  So everytime we are sitting in the car waiting for someone or something I go through a process of making sure the headlights are off and the fan blower is off and the door lights are off or I will have a dead battery.

Thanks ZX...I knew they were idiots. They said it had something to do with the module. I'm not so sure I want these guys working on my truck now.
