I just bought a the 06 2LT and on the radio there is a button "CAT" when pressed it says XM radio features. I was told that the XM option cant be installed after market. I had XM in my Malibu that I traded in and really want it back integrated into the stereo and not a seperate unit hooked up. Does anyone know if this can be done?

You may just have to call up xm for the subscription.....I have an 07 I got 3 months free xm When I press cat I get the xm catalog of stations.. If you bought this car from a dealer as a left over I would ask them if they'll give you the xm....how about the onstar do you have it??

I bought a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 3LT a couple of months ago, and I have been asking the same thing. When I purchased the vehicle, I asked the salesman if XM was installed, and they told me yes, which it turns out, was not. I have been back to the dealership quite a few times, only to find out that GM does not make a kit for it right now, as the cable that is needed to go from the radio to the XM crossover is not available. I stopped and looked at a brand new 2006 Monte with XM and Onstar, and there is no other box installed in the car other than the radio. The salesman believes there is a card on the back of the radio that gives it XM, so I am going to try to find a GM rep I can talk to, and see what exactly is needed. I had a separate XM radio on my previous Monte Carlo, going over FM frequency, which I do not want to do with this one, I want Digital XM.

I talked to a radio company in Califormia, and the person mentioned that shortly after the first of the year, GM will come out with whatever is needed to give 2006 Monte's XM through the radio.

I just found out from a place in California that carries XM, and they now have the cable to hook up to a 2006 Monte Carlo, and have it integrated into the existing radio. If you are interested, you can contact Chris @ West Coast Radios, chris@westcoastradios.com, and tell him what you need.
