We were at a local dealer this past week, inquiring about leasing a 2007 Suburban, LT2, sunroof, 3rd row seat, DVD player, and curtain airbags. We were quoted a lease price, for 15,000 miles/year for 3 years, of $525/mo with _$6,300_ down! When I said that was exhorbitant, the sales rep said they just punch the vehicle and terms into their computer, and GM determines the down and monthly payments.
I leased a 2001 Audi TT, $45,000 msrp, with $1800 down, and paid $536 a month. My father-in-law is leasing a 2006 Avalon, $1,200 down, and is paying $500/month. It's nice to know that GM is doing so well and doesn't need my business.

Shop other dealers.  I know for a fact that these salesman get extra incentives to have buyers sign on to these crazy leases.  Go to GMAC Financial to see all rates and deals.  Go to dealer with this print out and ask to speak to Finance Manager if you don't get the right answers from the Sales staff.

Find another dealer.  With leasing the key is to put as little down as possible.  Do you know that if you put $6300 down on a lease and the car is totaled or stolen next week you will more then likely loose all or most of your down payment.  If the payments are too high look for another model.  Models with high residual and a low money factor will yield the best deal.  Sometimes I lease and sometimes I buy.  The lease / money factor on the Tahoe's were crappy at the time I purchased.  Its does not mean anything bad about GM it just depends from one month to the other.  I would highly encourage to do alot of research about leasing before signiing on the dotted line.

I fully agree with Engine2.  The dealer I purchased my 2007 LT2 Suburban (MSRP $49,500) from initially gave me a 36 month lease price close to $875 per month with $2500.  I told him that he was f***ing crazy.  I then went home a looked on GM site for all rebates/deals/ % rates.  Went back to dealer with info which gave me $710 monthly payment for 60 months.  After stumbling over his words (sales mgr) he offered a lease @ $698 per month for 48 months w/ $2500 down.  Why would I give them $36,004 for renting a vehicle for 4 years which I can only drive a total of 48K miles over this period and end up with 0 at the end.  I decided to go with purchase at the $710 with 4.9% interest. Do your research or you'll get f***ed........
