Guys,

I'm thinking of getting a 94 Suburban 5.7. What sort of mpg can I expect from a big ol' bus like this?
The guy selling says about 25 on the motorway, but doesn't know for normal town driving, so I thought I'd ask the experts :)
I'm asking as UK fuel prices are stupid and will never get cheaper.
I just love american vehicles though, so much better than our crap we've got here in europe.
We pay .86p per litre, thats about $1.70 PER LITRE.
Our gallon is 4.5 litres, so that equates to about $7.65 per gallon!! (and you thought your fuel prices were high.......)
Now you can see why I'm asking.........
Thanks in advance for the info.

Jules.

I have a 2003 5.3 litre Suburban and was getting about 17-18 MPG (UK Gallon0 mixed driving - I have an LPG Conversion and get between 13-14 MPG mixed driving but at 48p per litre instead of 85p.

It was a better break when unleaded was 95p a litre.

The '94 Sub has the spare wheel inside and is not so easy to locate the LPG tank - whereas post 2000 the Suburban has the spare underneath which is an ideal spot to put the tank and I get about 200 miles on a tank of LPG for about £35

Checkout Greenfuel.com or a google search on LPG will throw up a lot of relevant sites.

On the otherhand a '94 Sub is going to be relatively cheap to buy. Where did you see it? Autotrader? Is it private or trade?

Cheers,

I have a "99" 5.7 liter w/3:43 gears and it is a 4x4. Living in AZ and running air-conditioning most of the time, I get 15 mpg almost all the time.

yeah, Autotrader.
Some guy in Isle Of Sheppy has 1 for £4495. Spoke to him and he'll take less I'm sure. I have a 96 chevy C1500 4.3 and it's got the later interior / dash which I prefer, but I love the Suburbans.
The 1 he's got for sale is all leathered up and has the 3rd row of seats. I was just wondering what sort of mileage people got with the 5.7 as I'd love to own one, but this one unfortunately isn't LPG otherwise I'd jump at the chance. And I don't have the £1800 - £2200 for an LPG conversion.
I've just sold a 83 6.2 diesel to some guy who came over from czechoslovakia on the bus to collect it !!!!! But I love the later shape like this 94.
Thanks for the mileage info anyway guys.
