I just got a 95 Suburban and would like to add a 3rd seat, but this one didn't come with one from the factory (it was originally purchased by the Amarillo Fire Dept. as a fire chief car). Can I just bolt one in there? I really need space for at least one more passenger, or better yet 2 so I can change the front bench seat to buckets. Can bucket seats bolt in there in the back, maybe? Stock? Aftermarket? I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried to add a third seat to a Suburban not equipped for it, or anyone that has any advice on how to do this, preferably safely.

Have you looked under the carpet to see if the seat mounts/recepticals are in the floor? they should be.

no, it doesn't appear to have any factory provisions for a 3rd seat. does anyone know of a backseat that comes with seatbelts attached? I guess I'll just have to bolt something in back there.

Since the occupants or the 3rd row will most likely be children and there are not any factory pre-installed provisions it will be difficult to do it right and safe.

Good luck.

Can you do it? Sure it can be installed.  But I would have serious reservations about it.  Like I said, unless you have the right anchors and bolt down system with reinforced floor area, that seat can rip out in a collision.  But hey what do I know, I am just a firefighter who has seen stuff unbolt or rip out of floors because of a "custom job/do it yourself job".  Personally I would not put my most precious cargo (Children) into something that did not come from the factory already installed or have installion ready provisions designed to be added on later.  Good Luck

I have the same dilemma, my 99 GMC Suburban is a SL edition that is void of all the bells and whistles that I like in the LT edition. As far as adding a third seat to your rig this seems like the way to go http://discountvantruck.com/suv3rdrowseats/92suburbansuv3rdseats.htm
I'm holding out until the summer time to see if I can cut that whole section out of a donor truck and weld it in mine. Let me know if you find something different.
