I had that same question. However, I just checked it out a few minutes ago. It works great in the dark as well. I guess your reverse tail lights produce enought light!

http://www.chevroletforum.com/m_15129/tm.htm I have about 10 pictures there. I dont know about weatherproof, but I would imagine so. It is made to be installed on the outside of a vehicle so I would think it would be weatherproof.

Ok, I am in the mist of installing the camera. Couple of questions: On the brown plug (C4) I only have 3 wires: 5 D-GN/WH 817 Vehicle Speed Signal (UVC) 6 PK 6972 Camera Signal #2 + (UVC) 7 L-BU 6973 Camera Signal #2 (UVC) There are no other wires. Can I simply cut wire 6 and 7 and wire them into the camera? Do they have any other function anywhere else? Also, where are you guys wiring the camera power leads to? I noticed a powerplug on the passenger side in the cargo area that I was thinking about using. I also thought about tying into the reverse lights so the camera is only powered when in reverse. Any comments?

Any comments? Yes you can hardwire right to the 6 and 7 pins for the video if you'd like. Not sure what to tell you on the power question.

I am almost done. All wires are run and connectors are put on them. However, does it make a difference on how the polarity of the video feed is hooked up? If so, which is the postive video feed. I have the power right. For reference: Red - positive 6v black - negative 6v yellow - ?? white - ?? FYI - I ran the power for the camera off the reverse lights and put the 12v-6b converter behind the passenger side trim piece above the rear tail light (inside). Side note - the rear tail lights are a PITA to get off.

Try it both ways, when the video pops up you got it. You won't hurt anything if you reverse it. My assumption is yellow + and white for -.
