My 93 Burb died the other day on my wife and will not restart. The Fuel pump is working correctly. While turning it over, I had a buddy dump furel in the throttle body and it started and ran fine then stopped. I seems like it is either not getting fuel or the call for fuel is not happening. Any ideas??? TPS????
Thanks,
Kelly

I think they changed in 95. This vehicle definitely has throttle body with two injectors that squirt fuel. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Again, my old 87 comes in handy to other people. I had a similar issue, a few months after changing the fuel pump it would not start. Starting fluid would fire her right up though. It is very likely one or both of two places. First off your injectors come out pretty easy. Take them out have them checked at an auto parts store. My local Napa had a ultrasonic cleaning machine. This machine will check the spray pattern and clean them if they are dirty. Spot number two, under your distributors rotor there is a device that is the actual controller for the injectors. It uses the distributor as a referance pulse for firing the injectors. Mine went bad. when you turn over the motor is there fuel coming out the the injectors? if so its not the controller. If there is no fuel coming out it is either that controller or the fuel pressure regulator right behind the TB, or associated wiring. hope this helps and let me know if you get it fixed with this. If you still have no luck after checking these I will dig deeper.... good luck.

******When you take your TB apart, be careful not to drop the small parts down the intake!!!!! another mistake I made, ahh keep track of those small parts, there are many. ****

Great information............The truck started once during diagnostic eval and the injectors were squirting they should then they just quit and it died! I will check the electrical, that was my forst guess as there is fuel waiting for a call to come. Do yo know the name of the control module? I may also have a spark issue?? distributor?? Sure appreciate your post and will try it out!

I don't recall the name of that module, any decent GM small block guy will know what I am talkin about though. I definitely recommend NAPA, I know they take time to teach their people about parts, That and Oreilly, the bigger chain stores, if its not in their computer, they are lost. Good luck and let me know what happens. If you think you have a spark issue, it could be coming from the same module if I remember right.... check it out. If you have a Hayne or Chilton or something you can get that part name from there.

it's called an ignition control module under the dist cap., and contols the "spark" signal. it sends a signal 2 the ECM to, inturn, send a signal 2 the injectors to start firing, and thus letting fuel b delivered 2 the engine for combustion 2 start. if u r getting spark, the module is ok-check for corossion on the terminals, also ensure there is some dielectric greese under the module.

another problem u might have is "injector signal" issues. check the K5 forum under "88 k5 won't crank" for a possibility that i suggested.

good luck.

I was able to replace the Ignition Control Module that is connected to the distributor as well as the cap and rotor and PRESTO!!!!!

Thank you so much for all of your suggestions. After that was finished, I replaced the water pump and put new brakes/rotors on. The Burb runs like a dread again.
Thanks,
Kelly
