punched out catalytic converter

okay i punched my cat out on my 99 S10 L4 2.2L and now of course my check engine light is on
in nevada they don't really care about emissions so it's completely legal to remove the cat
i'm just wonderin how to go about turning the light off i have welding machines and such plus i'm an electronics major in school so
so don't worry about confusin me. what's is the best way to do this?

b4 u go screwin' with the computer, tryin' 2 fool it, check & see what the code is. when i punched the cat in my '94, 4x4, 4dr., 5 spd. Jimmy, i didn't have any codes appear. now my truck has the 4.3 in it, but i don't think the size of the engine will have anything 2 do with a code appearing. check the code b4 u do any damage u may not b able 2 repair!

Curious what happened to the O2 sensor??

Theres a little box you can buy of the internet for bout 25$, you wire it up and it sends impulses to the sensor and makes the computer think that its allright. There pretty cool ive seen them put in and working ill try to find the name..

** Type in o2 sensor simulator and you will find it there all over the place
