Hello, I have a 99 monte carlo with a drivers side window that will go down, but not up. I assumed it was the motor so I replaced it. I made sure that there are no bindings for upward travel. This did not fix the problem, so I'm looking for ideas on what to check next. I thought that I should troubleshoot the switch since power is getting to the motor to allow it to go down. I think that I should jump the power wire to the wire that makes the window go up???? Does anyone know what wires I need to test to see if it is the switch? The switch is close to $100! I want to rule out the switch before taking the motor back for another. Sometimes parts are just bad... Any help or advice whould be great.

Wrong. You don't just throw parts at it and hope it fixes the problem. You have to diagnose the problem.

I don't have a wiring diagram to look at but if I can't remember right you'll want jump either a purple wire to black or a yellow wire to black. I can't remember and it may not even be the colors I listed. Best bet is to pick up a haynes manual and look at the wiring schematic.

whoa calm down mr. e-thug. You said that it fixed your problem but that doesn't mean it will fix this guy's problem so telling him to go buy a part isn't a smart thing to do. Like I said you need to diagnose the problem not just throw parts at it and hope it fixes it.
