Hello, I have a 99 monte carlo with a drivers side window that will go down, but not up. I assumed it was the motor so I replaced it. I made sure that there are no bindings for upward travel. This did not fix the problem, so I'm looking for ideas on what to check next. I thought that I should troubleshoot the switch since power is getting to the motor to allow it to go down. I think that I should jump the power wire to the wire that makes the window go up???? Does anyone know what wires I need to test to see if it is the switch? The switch is close to $100! I want to rule out the switch before taking the motor back for another. Sometimes parts are just bad... Any help or advice whould be great.

ORIGINAL: turtle it sounds like the switch( go to the Junkyard ) pick one up cheap Wrong. You don't just throw parts at it and hope it fixes the problem. You have to diagnose the problem. I don't have a wiring diagram to look at but if I can't remember right you'll want jump either a purple wire to black or a yellow wire to black. I can't remember and it may not even be the colors I listed. Best bet is to pick up a haynes manual and look at the wiring schematic.

Hey Asshole Thats wat happend to my 1996 monte and that was wat fixs the problem whoa calm down mr. e-thug. You said that it fixed your problem but that doesn't mean it will fix this guy's problem so telling him to go buy a part isn't a smart thing to do. Like I said you need to diagnose the problem not just throw parts at it and hope it fixes it.
