There are many factors to the torque you can expect to see at the wheels but none of which would have an effect on the "power" produced by the engine. The thing to remember is that if you change any of the gearing to get more torque upon take off then you would be giving up the higher speeds and gas milage that your vehicle would currently offer for something that could be a lot less. However the transmission does play a large part in the torque if that is your main question as does the torque converter and rear end. Is your truck a 4x4? If so I would be very careful in messing with gear ratios because it is very important that the front and rear axles rotate at the same ratios.

The only reason to change over to the Allison trans would be if you towed or hauled a LOT of weight on a regular basis. Very stout, rugged, torquey (is that a word) trans, but as the man said, geared lower, hence lower top speed. Want more speed?
Headers, exhaust pipes, MSD ignition box, plugs & wires, cold air intake
Do that and we'll start on the expensive stuff.
