Personally I dont think it has anything to do with the cold weather. I also dont have heated seats. I do all my work, detailing, etc in my garage and it is heated. Like I said 5 minutes of the dvd player, dome lights, or anything being left on and it is a guarantee my battery is dead!

That should not happen. Its got to be a defect because I had left my headlights on in another car for an hour and still been able to start. Something is definately putting a huge draw on the battery - I wonder what it is?

I wont be leaving my radio on anymore just to be on the safe side.

Then unless it's a bad batch of batteries (which I can't imagine it would be) there is a huge, huge amount of current being drawn by something......bad alternator diodes??

According to Dave, AKA zx, there is a ton of draw on the battery when you simply open the door. A miriad of systems start up to prepare for operation. I have had my Tahoe for a year and and month. During the first four or five months it happened 5 times. Of course the battery replacement was the first attempt at a fix. I also kept a diary of systems I used during the day. They tested the draw on the vehicle. The right set of circumstances never occurred while at the dealer. Nothing seemed to identify or fix the problem. GM suggested my 15 minute commute might be too short to charge the battery. I had mine go dead after sitting for about two hours in my garage after have been driven for over an hour straight.

They tried one final thing.
HVAC reprogram-- It seemed to fix the problem. They believed that something in the system did not allow the vehicle to go into sleep mode after the required time.

I'll look up the paperwork. I have had no problems since...

I think you are onto something here. This would make sense in what was causing the battery to drain. Maybe ZX can confirm this,

I've had one occasion where my battery went dead after my doors were open for about 4 hours - luckily sitting in my driveway. No accessories were on and the key was not in the ignition. I assumed that the Tahoe had a "door open timeout" and that the battery would not run down - obviously wrong on this. I've had no problems since but have been careful not to risk it by sitting in the vehicle watching DVDs..........

I'm probably going to put in the second battery for peace of mind if I can locate an autoswitch (true 2nd battery backup - not primary/secondary circuits using an isolator - might need to look at marine switches)

Not sure if it applies, but a recent recall came out. The Id is 07007. That is to reprogram the computer to fix the battery from going dead. Mine is at the dealer now getting it fixed.

Eddie,
WIll you please ask them exactly what that recall entails and what exactly it is supposed to fix and what it changes! Tell them you have heard a lot of stories of the battery going dead from very little power use! Any help would be appreciated.
