* 144-hp ECOTEC 2.2L four-cylinder engine * EPA estimated 34 MPG highway * Four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and Electronic Range Selector * 15-inch steel wheel with bolt-on cover * Remote Keyless Entry * Head-curtain side-impact air bags(1) * Tilt/telescoping steering column * Cloth front bucket seats * Power driver-seat height adjuster * Complete list of standard & optional features So basicly I have the standard 2006 malibu LS, and I would like to upgrade it to something either faster or something nicer exterior... I am wondering what internal upgrades on the engine are available and what type of body kits or spoilers are available...

honestly i wouldnt know what engine that is but im guessing its the same engine they use in the base model cobalt. if so try looking into some mods made for that engine. its hard enough trying to do mods to the 3.5 V6

DJ........It's a 4 cyl engine in a not so light car. You bought it for the mileage. I have a 4 cylinder Camry for the mileage and a Z28 for the Go Fast. You probably will have a bit of trouble doing both in 1 car. I don't know all of Your needs or budget, but You might consider getting a v8 '07 Impala, Supposed to get 28 or so on the highway.

honestly, if u want to make ur car go fast, and look fast, u dont have the car for it, ud be puttin alot of stress on that small motor, its just not worth it with the power to weight ratio being so bad as it is, ur car weights a good 3300 lbs dry with only 145 hp, but if ur determined and stuff, get an engine swap. not sure what will fit but u might have to do some modding, but thats ur best bet, dont even know if thatd fit or work

You could swap a 3800 into it, just make sure you grab the PCM and whatnot from the donor car... for the money, that will give you the best HP and torque boost... and if you REALLY get fancy, you could swap in the 3800SC from a GTP. it WILL fit. I have the 3.1 in my car, and it's pretty peppy, gas sucks, but it's not TOO bad. I used to race a Saturn, so I know what it's like wishing you had a faster car XD but even a Saturn has a better power to weight ratio then the Malibus with the 2.2 ecoteks.
