The funny thing is in California, clear is legal.  You can technically have NO tint on the front windows or it's illegal.

And you dont get pulled over for that?  Cops here in MO are strict on tint!

In the past 15 years I have like maybe 2 window tint tickets, no more than 3 for sure.

yes biglg i put 15% on my fronts and left the rest of the windows at factory. when lookin at the truck in the day it looks like the fronts are lighter than the factory rears..

You put 15% on the front?  Did you leave your rears factory 16%?  If so your fronts are 10.5%.

Shouldn't this be an all pictures thread!?  Makes it a lot easier.

I just put 20% all around and it is dark enough for me.

actually 70% is the law in CA.  i guess thats how the Tahoe gets away with the slight tint in the front windows.

CA has more laws than every other state on just about everything, so I am not surprised that the front windows cant have any tints worth a damn.

One word of advice for those with dark tints.  If you do get pulled over at night, turn on your dome lights.  Most Cops will appreciate being able to see in your vehicle as they appraoch and may be more likely to cut you a break.

I had 15% put on my front windows, and I have to agree with  xclusive, they  match the backs  perfectly. On my old Trailblazer I had 20% on the fronts and the backs always looked darker.

LOL, 15% cant be perfect.  The math shows it isnt the exact same.  With 15% on fronts it makes net of 10.5%, with 20% it would make it 14%.  So 20% would be a closer match!  However, it is probably close enough that the untrained eye cant tell a difference!

So you are telling me that when I look at my Tahoe that does have the front windows tinted that I dont know what I'm talking about, however you who does not have tint on the front windows has a trained eye. Not to mention my trained tint guy who has been doing it for a long time told me that the best match would be to get 15%.

LMAO, I never said I have a trained eye!  However, my windows have tint on them, and so do yours from the factory!  70% front factory tint!  16% tint on the rears!

.70 x .15 = 10.5%   10.5% is what your fronts are as we speak!  Your rears are 16% from the factory!

.70 x .20 = 14%   This would be the closer match to factory rears at 16% from the factory.

I wasnt trying to be an ass, i was just stating a fact for anyone that did want the closest to factory match!  I am sure it looks great and that most people, including myself would never be able to tell the difference!

I just traded in my Z71 Sierre for the 2007 Tahoe LTZ.   I have always had deep tinted windows.  Does the window tint effect the navigation at all as it claims in the owner's manual.  I feel as though I am naked on display without the deep tint.  PLEASE ADVISE

I asked the same question on a different thread and those that responded said the tint (even metalized) did not effect the nav.  I am looking into ceramic tint by Formula One (pinnacle series) made by the same comapny that makes Llumar for that reason, but mainly it has better heat rejection.  Any drawback is that it costs about 40% more.

As to the issue of darkness and math versus the eye:  The front windows will look lighter (to the eye) even if they are darker (mathmatically) because of the light coming in through the windshield.  So you may both be right.  Especially if you have a light interior that the light can reflect off of.

I've got the 20% on the two front sides and added 35% on the rears for a little extra privacy and heat deflection (I live in the Palm Springs area and it's a bazillion degrees in the summer). I really like the look. Just be sure that the "film" that is used is not "metalized" or you will get the a slight mirror like effect (similar to a polarized lens on sunglasses".  Here's some pics of mine:

I had my black Tahoe tinted all the way around.  With the black leather you can barely see in, even during the day time.  Looks darker than the one pictured above.

On a tangent, has anyone seen a windshield tinted?  My buddy works at a dealer and he put a very light tint on his 2006 lifted HD's windshield (not legal) and because of how high he is, it does make it a little difficult to see him, but you wouldn't think it was tinted though.  My other friend also tinted his Dodge's windshield with the same stuff.  It definitely helps in keeping it cooler inside, as we live in the Phoenix area.
