Stock, but I did paint all the exposed with high temp flat black as well as the shield that protects the spare tire. Looking at my white tahoe from across the parking lot with the exhust blacked out gives it very clean body lines. It was my very first mod :) Modest I know but you have to start somewhere right?

I know this is anecdotal, but from all the posts I've read here and elsewhere, I'd say the consensus is with Magnaflow.

I have a 50 series flowmaster not too loud but give a nice deep rumble when needed.

Exhaust is based on personal preferences. I eliminated my resonator and went with approximately 16in stainless exhaust tip. I matched where the exhaust pipe originally extended.
I no longer have to see the ugly resonator nor the blah exhaust pipe. Very subtle and gives a clean appearance.

i was thinking Magnaflow based on quality but i haven't heard them on anything around here so not sure what it sounds like

you cant go wrong with gibson or borla
Also Corsa, which would of been my choice over the Magnaflow I have now, but I didn't care for the rear exit look. Rumor has it that they will be coming out with the side exit.

How does it sound now? Any drone?

73shark - nope, no drone. That's why I went that route. I had flowmaster on one of my Chevy trucks (changed it out twice) and the drone at certain speeds drove me crazy. Most of my driving is on highway (100-mile back/forth to work every day) so I am super-sensitive to the drone.
I wanted subtle, just a tad bit more than stock, yet loud enough to hear when I huff-puff around folks going slow in the left lane. Just removing the resonator did the trick and saved me tons of money.

That looks great! I like that. On my 97 I had the 5 chamber flowmaster that sounded great and wasnt too droning on long trips. My 93 stepside had the 3 chamber and sounded really great but the muffler shop guy told me to go with the 5 chamber in the Tahoe due to the passenger/cargo compartment being over the exhust system. He said the passenger/cargo area really amplifies the the sound and going with the 3 chamber would have drove me crazy. Both trucks had the 24 in long 3in dia chrome echo tips exiting out the rear.
I havent decided if I want to do anything with my 07 other them clean it up a little kinda like what you did, I'm liking the refined quiteness of the factory setup, that and now my wife doesnt know when I'm coming down the street when i come home in the evenings :)

What tip did you use? Was it long enuf to reach where the resonator was cut off or did you have to add a short piece of pipe?

Did not have to add any pipe. I went with a no-name rolled-edge angle-cut that the local muffler shop had. The angle-cut makes it 18-in in length on top side, 16-in in length on bottom.
If anyone goes this route, invest in a good quality of stainless. I didn't spend the money because I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't have the drone. I'll have to replace in a couple of years with another one that is of better quality. In the meantime, I'll have to continue my least favorite thing of polishing it.

re polishing it.. that is why I opted for the painting it black, you still have to clean it but its not near the work as that part of the vheicle is as dirty as it gets right behind the wheel.
