I raced from the age of 16 until I decided to stop about 5 Years ago when I turned 55. I've always been a drag racer and I've got many friends that circle track race. My fun was the building and watching a successful application of that no matter what type of racing it was. I started in 1962 with a 6 cylinder '55 Chevy that was really slow but it taught Me the basics and how to race. The most fun I had was in the early to mid 1970's with My black 1968 427 Camaro that ran 10.60's in the quarter and was really a street car with a big ( at the time ) set of slicks. I'm originally from northeastern Ohio and a good friend and I had a ball baiting and switching our race cars, They were identical except His was a 396 and ran low 12's. We would even use the same license plates. It was good fun and nobody was ever the wiser. It sure got everyone really afraid to race a black Camaro though. The fastest thing I ever ran was My low seven second dragster. I always wanted to try a pro stock car but could never really afford it when I was younger. Now it's a million dollar operation. I learned about setting up chassis on oval track cars after I built many engines for those guys that dyno'd more than their competition and they were finishing in 6th to 10th place. After they learned along with Me how to do the right kind of chassis setup, they started winning. I learned along with them so I could make better camshaft designs because that was the only area where You could change and stay legal. Racing has changed quite a bit over the years. Evolution of the different cars and engines etc. have brought it a long way and if You see how it has progressed, there is no end in sight. KEEP RACIN" thanks for listening.
