I was just wondering, is it my Tahoe or is the estimated MPG on the sticker way off ?
Here is what I get:
City 12 MPG  - estimated was 16MPG - that is quite different
Fwy 18 MPG  - estimated and advertised 22MPG.
Average 13.3 MPG
I have also noticed that the Tahoe rarely goes to V4 mode. Typicaly only when I take foot of the gas or going downhill.
What is your MPG ?

i will get better with time.. the engine breaking in, and your habits of driving getting better about MPG.

with stock rims, i avg about 15.5-16.5 for mixed driving.  still under the sticker (since i drive half freeway) but still not horrid.  with my 24s on, i avg about 13.5-14 mixed.

i drove to colorado recently, and i got about 20mpg.  realize, the biggest factor is your lead foot..  also, 4 cyl mode only kicks in when you have *very* light throttle.  its only really effective in flat highway driving.

LMAO!  HAHA, HMM.  I must have fat fingered the 2 key, should have been a 1!  How about 14!  No, really I am not sure.  I dont pay attention anymore, it is too disappointing!

I drive 100-150 miles per day on a mix of highway and city. I have had my truck two and a half months and have 12K miles. I have maxed the mpg at 18.8 on a 3 hr trip on the interstate and hit a low of 13.3 on back road driving. But the avg has been around 15.3 overall. Sitting on stock 20's

Also, people with larger than stock tires, the computer will read a little lower unless you have recalibrated for the larger tire.

I knew the mileage on the sticker was "pie in the sky".  In order for the govermment to compare mileage to other vehicles (apples to apples) the numbers are based on totally unrealistic road conditions (basically as though your truck was in a giant test tube vacuum). Needless to say, I am still in the break in period and getting 12-13 mpg in the city.  Not close to the claimed mileage, but will hopefully improve after I get a few more thousand miles on her.

I believe the government is changing the test to better reflect real world conditions sometime this or next year.

Yes, new MPG testing will be done.  I believe it use to be someting like this.  Driving 35MPH, no AC, windows, up, radio off.  Somthing to that making, I AM NOT kidding.

THe new tests are supposed to have AC on some, stop and go driving, and some heavier foot accelerating!  So I imagine we will see some huge drops!  Be nice to see what they have on the 08's, we can then compare ours and see how the new testing is working compared to our driving habits.  I guess this goes into effect in 2008?  Anyone know?

damn i must have a lead foot cause i only get like 12-13 MPG. i guess i have to take into account that i remote start my tahoe alot now since its like 20 - 30 degrees every morning in jersey and by doing that i just watch the MPG drop.

I drive to school about 3 days a week... 75 miles each way... so about 450 miles/week highway. And i drive about 200 miles city driving per week. I have almost 17,000 miles in 7 months. With 17" rims i average 17.6 mpg. That's way better than my old durango

Before our cold snap, was getting about 13 (calculated) and then put in Mobil 1 and it jumped to 13.5.  But then with the cold, it really dropped, especially if I remote start to thaw out.

I've never seen V4 on flat roads at highway speeds.

I'm getting around 17 to 18 mpg but i drive 90% highway.  I use cruise alot and it almost never goes into V4 mode.  If I cancel the cruise or if i'm going downhill is the only way it switches to V4.  I'm running stock 17's but looking to upgrade to stock 20's.  From what I'm reading, i guess  when i upgrade i can expect to see the mpg drop.

The wheel size makes a huge difference.  Mine came with factory 17's.  I averaged the same, 17-18.  Even got 20MPH on a 400 mile HWY trip.

Then I upgraded to 20's.  I averaged around 16-17.

Now with 24's, I havent averaged above 15.

I avg about 13.7 highway/city.  I do have 20's nitto all terrain, air raid, magnaflow exhaust, 4.10 gears....oh yeah and a HEAVY FOOT.  I do reset the MPG now and then to see, so sometimes I will get 15 when I am nice.
