that looks very bad! what were u doing when it broke? i would say by looking at the pic. that you will be in the market for a new tranny case soon. can u post some more pics (more area around the brake) just by what i can see it looks like it twisted and broke the case open.

well, the car is not mine... it's my girflriends
She bought it with about 60,000 miles i think, and about two months off the lot the transmission ripped itself to bits. It was since replaced, however the newly rebuilt transmission never really drove like it originally did. The car would seriously buck and shudder if any increases in throttle were necessary, and then it would shift nice and smooth if you jammed the foot on the peddle. This shuddering progressively got worse and worse.
Yesterday she was driving, normally, not beating on it, and she heard like a metallic bang and then a puff of smoke (probably fluid hitting the under side of the car i.e. exhaust cause its everywhere) and drove straight like a mile to my schools parking lot. Well here are the results....
I have more pics but not very clear!
Having a mechanic take a look at them tomm...

i hope its under warenty. i think if if its not i would find a new garage to go to cuse it sounds like you got riped. just my opinion i might be wrong

Oh no ... she definitely got ripped... which sucks but theres nothing you can do now!
We have some proof of previous visits and will probably bring it to small claims court if necessary, the tranny is no under warranty but weve visited more than once for that shuddering and got the cold shoulder
im sure shell win too

i hope she does win and take them for everything u can get to just for the agrivation.
