So I know that somebody posted about this topic before, but I just got a Magnaflow muffler put on my 07 Tahoe and there seems to be a weird burning smell coming from the exhaust. Anyone else have this problem? I have smelled this before, but never this strong. This isn't normal exhaust fume smell either, it smells more like a burnt clutch or something. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Lagger,

I just had my magnaflow installed as well last week. I did have a strange burning smell for a day. It smells like the welds from the install, but now the smell is gone. Give a day or two. How does it sound?

Thanks for the info DarkOne. Yea it sounds great...couldn't be happier, other than the smell thing. Not too loud, but definately growls when I step on the gas.

lagger,

Darkone's answer is correct. You are going to smell the welds from the exhaust work for a while until it burns it off. SHould go away over time!

What type of exhaust tip did you get? What does it look like? Show pic if you have one. Glad I could be of some help.

My wife came home a few weeks ago complaining of a weird smell coming from the exhaust of her Tahoe, I crawled around underneath and found the neighbors cat wedged between the muffler and floor pan.
It was big tom-cat, took quite a while to finally burn off.

I didn't eat him, he fell out from under the truck when my wife hit a bump, but luckily one of the local Viet Cong risked his life running out into traffic to rescue the smoldering carcass.
