Upgrading reversing lights on an '03

I find the reversing (back-up) lights too dim at night. Can anyone suggest how big a bulb can go into the normal tail-light. Has anyone gotten experience with LED replacements - I see I can get a 24 LED bulb replacement. I would prefer not to go to a HID conversion level. I have bought a White Night unit - only to find it wont fit with the hitch.

ive done the led's on back they r nice but dont shine wide unless you have the multi function bulbs so you 24 led's should work fine. hid's are the right way to go but are costly.

also my bulb is only the 12 leds anything bigger wont fit in bulb hole.

Add a set ot either backup lights or fog lights like this:
