this light came on while i was driving to work and has stayed on. i unplugged the battery and the light turned off only to turn back on later last night. any suggestions as to what it may mean and if its a serious problem?

Your traction control works with the ABS system on your vechile. I would check to see if maybe you have a 'Trac off' switch in your vehicle, and see if it was turned off, but you might want to take it to a trustworthy mechanic and have him hook a scanner to it and see if there are any ABS codes in the computer. The only other option I can think of is to take it to your local Chevy Dealer.
