Man, my wife got pulled over yesterday for the tint. I have my front windows matched with the rear. I think they went with 20%. Well an Alabama state trooper pulled her over yesterday just for that. She wasnt speeding or anything. She got a ticket for 123.00. Or we can remove the tint and take it to court so they can verify. Since Im moving this summer and I love the way my truck looks with the tint, Im going to take my chances and pay the ticket and leave the tint on. We'll see how that goes.

Is this considered a moving violation in AL? If so, your wife might get points on her license.

It is. One point. First one for her. Im still going to risk it. Ive had tint on all my vehicles. Always the same dark tint and this is the first time We have gotten pulled over for it. F***ers!!!

That blows. You might want to check with your insurance to see if it will raise your rates, though I doubt it with her excellent record.

Damn, that scares me as I have a beer or two on occasions during/after a nice round of golf. Mine is only at 25% overall all, but it looks darker with the vent visors and rear tinted dark. Damn, makes me want to remove mine. I dont mind the tint ticket, but if beer were involved it may be much worse!

You guys have to realy becareful. It looks like the more slower an area is the more chance of getting a ticket. I live in Los Angeles so most people out here have teh tints. i've been pulled over before for myother tints but its usually when I go down to the quiter gramma/grampa eighborhoods.
Remember also, that you got teh ticket close to teh end of the month. Staties always have a quota to fill!

You know, that explains it. About being the end of the month. Still pisses me off. If my insursnce raises my rates for a tint ticket I will drop them. I have been with them for over 10 years. Never a claim nor accident.

I have been pulled over twice for the tint. Only got 1 ticket. Thank goodness it isn't a moving violation here in Florida. Both times it has been on the Interstate. Trooper said they pull over all dark tinted cars due to Amber Alerts and such. He put the meter on mine and the fronts were at 7%. I think having a black tahoe all blacked out makes me a target.

I have the legal on my fronts, what ever % that is. On a black Tahoe, it looks dark but it's legal.

What is the legal limit % on your fronts in your state? What % do you have on? To stay legal at 35% you would have to have 50% aftermarket tint applied over the factory 70% to get the 35%????

Been safe so far here. 35% is the legal limit in Washington state, unless it is an SUV, then anywindow except for fronts and the windshield can be 20% I believe. Our skies are always so damn grey the cops probably can't tell how dark it is, lol...
We've been known to enjoy a good road soda or 2 when returning from golf around here...thankfully never got nabbed for that one either!

Yeah, I am almost tempted just to remove my front tint. I have a few to many road sodies some times. Not to many to drive, just to many to cause an issue.

I was going to tint my winshield but I had it done on my last car and for the life of me I couldnt see out at night comming around corners. I had teh darkest possible all around and 25 on the front.

A word to the wise not just biglg. You cannot base your ability to drive by the way you feel after drinking. I know several guys who seem perfectly sober after 9-10 beers because of their tolerance to alcohol they have built up over time. Obviously these guys would be DUI. With most states at .08, it does not take much anymore - so be very careful and educate yourself. Personally I would never drive if I had more than 2 beers or its equivalent. I have been to several MVA's (Motor Vehicle Accidents) while on fire rescue duty and I am amazed how many of these folks are DUI and get dragged off to jail that seemed perfectly sober. Have fun, but Drink responsibly.

Agree. Depending on size and metabolism, 2-3 brewskis in one hour can blow a 0.08 or higher. Be careful out there.

I understand guys. Buy my personal point was that I dont like to drive even after 1, or maybe 2 beers! That is why usually we have a sober driver! Anyways, I am just saying that if I do drive I will not have more than 2 beerz! I dont even like to drive then, but if I do, or have to I dont want to get pulled over for my tint!
As for the size, tolerance, weight, etc of what it would take for the legal limit. It is really amazing what it takes on some people. An old retired hiway patrol worked for me when I managed a golf store. The golf store just kept him busy part time! He was a very small guy, but liked his beer. He participated in some drinking tests, see how many beers it took to blow over the legal limit in an hour. Then they continued to drink for many more hours seeing what pace they had to continue to drink to stay at or slightly above the .08. I dont remember exactly what he said, however it was a lot higher than I would have imagined.
But not to let this give someone the wrong idea. It does vary person to person! I particularly dont/wont drive unless I have only had 1 or 2. I just dont want to get stopped because of tint! I am a paranoid person and would still be worried that even the 1 or 2 would get me into trouble.
