If your like most of the rest of us, you have a freckle faced kid in the house (on occasion) who can type a 90-word-per-minute text message on their cell phone, ask them what the smiley faced guy means.

I just wanted to give a little update on our 07' Tahoe adventure. We have placed an order with our Dealership for our second new 07' 3LT Flex-Fuel Tahoe. GM recieved the paperwork last week from our Dealership and we have been waiting for them to send us a build date. My wife continues to drive the loaner 07' Yukon XL until the Dealership completes the engine swap in Tahoe #1. At that time the Dealership will return Tahoe #1 to us and we will drive it until Tahoe #2 is delivered.

We noticed that GM has changed their pricing on their web-site since we ordered Tahoe #1 back in July. GM is now charging $800.00 for the Flex-Fuel engine and before there was zero cost difference. They used to charge extra for the 20" wheel option but not now it's a zero cost option. I'm not sure why GM is playing a shell game with their pricing but they have agreed to replace Tahoe #1 with Tahoe #2 for the same money. The only exception is we will get the 20" polished wheels this time instead of the 17" standard wheels.

The only cost that we will incur is for the mileage accumulated before the very first work order was opened. GM will send the Dealership the price per mile so they can determine the cost to us. We have no problem with that, it's only fair. Due to the fact our vehicle had so few miles on it our Dealer thinks GM might even wave that cost.

One last thing, the 07' Yukon XL my Wife is driving has performed flawless. She has logged about 1500 miles now and it' getting over 15 MPG in town (mostly freeway driving). It's very quiet, smooth handling and a pleasure to drive.

That's about it for now, but I will keep y'all posted.

Just to try to put some logic to what Chevrolet is doing price wise:
The reason for the $800 charge on the Flex Fuel 5.3L is that this motor is rated at 1 MPG worse (21) HWY then the standard 5.3L which gets 22.
GM wants to force the dealers to order more of the regular 5.3L engines to help improve the CAFÉ (Corporate Average Fuel Economy), the 4X4 models are rated the same regardless of motors.

On a 3LT package the 20" polished wheels are a $1,795 (MSRP) option but are standard on the LTZ package.
There was a problem a few weeks back with the supplier of the 20" wheels, they made about 20,000 wheels that were rejected by Chevrolet because the polished finish was not shiny enough, so the manufacturer made a deal to paint the wheels silver and GM would buy them for a reduced price and offer them as a lower priced option (RCP), Chevy is expected to price the painted wheels at $500-$600 when they become available in October.

Better luck on your new Tahoe when it arrives.

Chevrolet seems to change their prices as often as I change my shirt. After reading your reply I went to the Chevy web-site to check and you're right, now GM is charging $1795.00 for the 20" polished wheels. It hasn't been over a week since I checked the site and there was no cost difference at that time. They also listed the painted wheels at no additional cost as a third option. I noticed tonight while checking they didn't list the painted wheels at all. I guess my point is the consumer better do their homework and monitor the web-site for the best deals to come along before ordering their new vehicle.

As for our new Tahoe, I understand the Arlington Plant has cut back their working hours and this will delay the delivery time for our vehicle. I really don't mind as long as they get it right this time around.

The Chevrolet website isn't built or hosted by GM it is outsourced, the information on it takes days (or longer) to get updated when a change occurs.
This site is not intended to be a viable source of technical data or up to the minute details it's intended to assist the average consumer with general information.

I wouldn't expect to have to wait long for your order, the sold orders are not being held up right now, if you have an order number I can get you the details.
The only thing slowing down the plant right now is that they are ramping up a(s we speak) for the Z71, they have rolled off about a dozen of the units and are just making some final QAR adjustments and then they'll start full scale production on the Z71's.
