Stereo system

The rear speakers in my '94 burb 1500 are busted and the front passenger side speaker does not work.  I would like to replace the speakers and add a cd player.  Any suggestions.

Check out Crutchfield.com. I use them a lot for speaker sizes and stereo comparisons. They have a nice database of what size speakers fit in what locations on just about every vehicle out there. Easy to look up what size you need. Then I shop around for the deals. I've not bought from them, but I plan to soon. Better suport than retail stores.

What do you want in a stereo? What kind of media do you listen to (cd,s mp3's, radio, HD radio or satelite radio)?
Do you have kids? Do you want in-dash navigation?

You can find cheapo head units (the stereo itself) from about 50 bucks for a tape deck and radio tuner up to in-dash nav/dvd units for several hundred bucks.

I sugest to spend at least 100 bucks oin a head unit to get decent quality. I am looking at unit for my 'Burb for about $150 bucks. It wil have cd/cdr/mp3/wma capability with a USB port for my digital music files (mp3's) an auxillary input jack so I can plug in a sattelite radio tuner and a HD radio capable tuner.

I don't have HD radio localy, but on road trips, I will be in areas that do. Sat radio is my choice for radio as there are no good stations here and a lot of dead areas with no radio reception. I want a portable receiver so I only pay for one subscription and can use it in both rigs and the house. I have lots of music on my computer, so the USB port is nice, I can load up a jump drive and plug it in. No expensive burned cd's to loose, scratch and have to burn and store. Digital is good.

Speakers: looks for a good quality brand. Anything with a real name-brand (Pioneer, Kenwood, Jensen, Sony, etc...)are good. Brands like Boston Acutics, Infinity, and such are higher-end, but unless you are building a realy loud system, you may not need to spend the extra $$.

Sony's Explod line is prety decent and affordable. Personaly, I would stay away from Pioneer decks, I've been having a lot of problems with them recently (two new ones died in two years.)

I got a '91 Suburban and no fuse diagram... any advice?

I was able to remove the mounts for my rear roof speakers in my 98 Suburban and modify them with a Dremmel to fit a pair of 6 X 9s. It made a big difference with a pair of old speakers I had laying around. I will be replacing them with better one eventually.
