I was going in the freeway and hit 107 and the car would not go any faster because the speed limit is set to 107 mph.

How can I set it to 140 which is the real speed limt of the car?

Thank you guys!!!

The limiter is there for a reason and there is absolutely no reason to be going 107 mph on the freeway.  Slow the heck down or go to a race track before you hurt somebody or yourself.

There are devices available to change the speed limiter value (the Hypertec programmer for instance).  If you are going to change the value, make sure you have tires rated for that speed.

In my state you would lose your licence for 30mph over the posted limit.

From what I have been informed, the police version of the Impala is limited to 126.

I was all alone in the highway, tires are good and why would I race a slow a$$ impala lol? I was just hurried and I could not go over 107. That's just stupid.

So how can I make this change????

Have to locate someone who has a programmer (ie: local speed shop) or buy one (ie: Micro Tuner Hand Held Programmer).  Again I say make sure your tires are rated (if you don't know what I am referring to, look here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=35).
