RKE Remote NOT WORKING PROPERLY? Anyone.

I recently have had a problem with the remote.  I can lock and unlock the vehicle right after I exit, but give it about 10 min or so and I no longer can unlock or lock the vehicle.  I have to put the key in and unlock it.  I have done the relearn for the remotes, but I don't know if I need to have the key in the ignition on.  The instructions do not indicate this part.  I do hear the beep to tell me it has relearned, but when I lock to cycle out of the relearn it won't get rid of the relearn screen.....HELP!!!   ZX if you know what I can do w/o taking it back to the dealer I would appreciate it, since my dealer will not be able to get to it until next week.

Try disconnecting the battery cable for at least 20 seconds, and touch the + cable end to ground while disconnected.

If this doesn't do it then you have to take it in.

Thanks ZX I will try it out.  Do you know why this might have happened.  I went to the manual and tried to relearn worked but not when I returned to the vehicle.  By the way I tried both remotes, both work but again not when get back.

The GMlan is falling asleep; it is an anomaly we see occasionally.   Assimilate it to; the mouse on your keyboard dying after you have left your computer alone for a while.

Well I hope the alarm is not falling asleep.....needs to do it's job when I am not around to protect her.   So all I do is disconnect the + and touch the neg on the battery or somewhere on the engine?  I don't want to mess anything up by touching the wrong thing.

Correct.

Just be sure that you dont leave the + connected and touch the - to it.

Ok so disconnect + then touch the - terminal...right?  but quickly!

I looked at the battery terminal and might have to do that in the morning or if there is another way to reset the computer w/o.  The dealer has a lot of cars to deal with and won't see me until next week.. I can always wait and if anything happens to my vehicle break in wise or anything like that....I can blame GM since it didn't work the way it was suppose to and they could not get me in until next week.  Then they will just have to give me a new one.
