Replacing a gear shift illumination light bulb

I own a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo LS Automatic. The gear shift illumination light bulb seems to have burned out.

I'm wondering if this is something that I can replace myself; how to pop open the housing, what part needs to be removed to get to the bulb, etc.

My dealership says I'd have to leave the car for 1/2 a day because their mechanic has "never done this before" on an Aveo!

Any ideas?
