Removing Suburban Center Caps Help

Greetings,

This may sound trivial but I have destroyed too many so far so I will ask.  How do you remove the standard Suburban/Tahoe wheel center cap without breaking it?  I do not see a cutout to insert a flat tool like a screwdriver after loosening the plastic caps.
