The 1996 Suburban I just bought has one of the rear AC lines cut just under the rear unit, about 2" under the floor.   I don't know why it was cut.  It is cut on the metal tube part, not the hose part.  Looks like a clean cut like it was done on purpose, but it was not plugged.  Does this whole line need to be replaced or can it be reconnected somehow?  What will this cost to repare (not including the purging and refill) if this is all that is wrong with it?  I had an '88 with a leaky rear AC unit.  DO these things just all break?

These Suburbans don't exist in junk yards where I live (Massachusetts).  I've looked around for hours  online, phone calls, etc.  I will probably get the parts new.
