Putting a deck, amp and subs in 2003 Impala..

Okay, so my parents helped me out in getting this 2003 Impala for my 18th birthday. In my last vehicle, a 1996 Blazer, I had an Alpine deck and after market speakers. I'd really like to put an iPod compatible deck, aftermarket speakers, amp and subs in the car, but my father has read that sometimes after putting aftermarket electronics in the car, people have had problems starting the car, etc. It makes the car wild.
Do any of you have decks in your car, such as the one I want to put in, and if you do, do you have problems with your car?

i have an 04 impala and i have had about 3 cd players in it. right now i have a jvc 3.5 screen dvd/cd player and i have a jl audio w7 in the trunk. alot of people do say that it could cause problems with the electrical type things but i have had no problems with mine. the only weird thing that does happen is when my bass hits my lights kind of dim it doesn't hurt anything but if that does happen you could get a power cap if it bothers you. my only suggestion is get your cd player and stuff professionally installed because if anything does go wrong they are faulty. hope this was helpful! :)

A power cap isnt gonna help out his dimming, a high output alt is what he needs to stop dimming

what is a high output alt?

A high output altenator. The alt is what produces your electronic power
CAPS are a bandaid for a weak electrical system and can do more harm than good...
If your alternator is on the edge, a cap can help, otherwise, you are pissing away money that would be better spent on a real solution... HO Alt

there are other solutions also, rewire kits, volt boosters, big 3 wire upgrade

No the alt will only help out. I would try upgrading your wires first. Check out the12volt.com and look for the big 3. After that i would look into a new HO alt

the best wiring kit is the Kicker package...comes with huge power wire, speaker cable (lots of it), signal cable, fuse block, and little adaptars.
I have an 12 inch Infinity sub with a sony xplod amp and the kicker wires work great!

I put a JVC DVD player & a 1500 Watt Rockford amp with 2 Apline Type R 12" subs, and I have had no problems. As for the lights dimming when the bass hits, I fixed that with putting a more powerfull battery in my car. I went to autozone and ask what battery I needed, then I bought the next one up from that and it stopped the dimming of the lights.
