Having grown up in an all GM world and having parents that pretty much drove nothing but Chevrolets I am a GM girl. My current driver is a '98 Pontiac Grand Prix GT coupe since it was given to me by my dad. I am now in the market for a new car but the problem is GM in general and Chevy in particular no longer makes a car I want to buy. See...I won't drive anything but a two door coupe (rather have a hardtop but that isn't happening anymore apparently) and with the exception of the Cobalt/G5, which I find too small, and the Pontiac G6, which I find not very attractive, GM/Chevy no longer makes a car to suit me. So what do I do? Buy something I don't want? I won't buy a Ford but then like GM their cars too are ugly and the Mustang is *yawn* boring. My dad would disown me anyway...lol. Chrysler isn't much better. I wonder if I'm too hard to please? NO, because right now there are at least 4 foreign cars that fill all my requirements...2 door coupe, the right size, great looking, priced right, and available. What's a girl to do?

Have you checked out some Saturn cars? They are GMs as well. They have two platforms that are unique to Saturn, and they are very sporty.
Anyway, if a foreign car suits your needs, buy it. Theres no sense in owning a car that you can't fully utilize.

2009 will bring the Camaro and in 2010 we will get the CTS coupe. More to follow I hope...
The day of the 4 door is here I guess. My father feels the same way you do. He would rather not have a 4 door but choices are really limited now.
His preference is based on older generations of 4 doors. (He's nearly 60) When he grew up a 4 door was a way different animal. Now, for example, the 98 you have has the exact dimensions as the 4 door of the same year.
I would suggest that you try and get past the number of doors and look for a vehicle that still possess the younger, sportiness associated with 2 doors you prefer.Packages and Rim choices (aftermarket even) can really change the personality of a vehicle. Not every 4 door (even of the same model) has the same feel.
Good luck, I love the veh shopping process
Mazda 6 or 3, Acura TSX, Is the Lexus IS available as a 2 door? Please don't say Civic.

my last car was a 2 door. i must admit...it's rough for people in the back seat. I say you head for the wild side and go with a pontiac solstice/saturn sky. I must admit...I'm a proud owner of a Sky Redline
