Non working Shift lock in 2006 Cobalt

Does anyone know how to fix this.  It just stopped working one day and i have to use the override button under the steering column to remove my key.  The shifter moves freely from park to reverse etc...with a small touch...the button does not work on the auto shifter any more.  I was told this is very dangerous....any one have any help or how i can fix this on my own.  There is one other post on this.  Is there a  recall or how do i see about getting a recall issued.
