my '95 2.2

If I have a cracked head,  (my car, not me!!), the water that I am loosing would be either in the oil (not) or going out the exhaust, yes/no? My car would run hot, yes (not)? 
 
Water is being thrown around in the area of the over flow container & the water pump.  If I put water in & want to drive, I can & the car runs great.  If there was a cracked head, would the car run well?  I've not been driving it though.
 
Any input is appreciated.  I am really not in a position to get another car right now & if I could save this one, I'd love to.

sounds more like the water pump is gone.

that is what I think, too---but I am definitely not a pro
