Keyless entry

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I've searched keyless entry problems here but can't find any issues with the chevy truck. My keyless entry works when it wants to, but never consistently. It happens with both key fobs. I suspect the receiver; I have re-sync'd the system. Where is the receiver loacted and what possible fixes are there?
