I received the McGhaughys 2/3 kit. It came incomplete missing some of the hardware and the instructions. After 5 hours and very great help from Biggmon I got it done. Here are a before and after pic to give an idea. The after pic is blurry because I took it at night. Ill post better one later.

Looks good! Did it seem to level it out a little?

Looks great. I also like the chrome exhaust tip>

Yeah, I'm guessing that it's connected to a cat-back exhaust system too.

Thanks. Right now it depends on where the truck is parked. At times it seems the back is a little lower than front and at times it seems the other way around. I'm waiting for the suspension to settle and I'm looking for flat ground to see exactly how it sits.. The tip is from a magnaflow catback.

Looks good! Where did you get the kit? Did you get just the spring kit, or spings and spindles? How much?
Those are 22's, correct? Any rubbing issues since you lowered it? Did you have to have an alignment afterwards?

Also, please some more pics in the light would be great! Thanks, Landon.

I love the magnaflow sound. Not too loud. I got the kit from an online site. Not too happy with them being that I got an incomplete package. I did get the spindles/spring kit. The wheels are 22's and they rub a little if I turn the wheels completly. I have not alligned it yet but its in desperate need of an allignment. It will get done first thing tomorrow. I will post more pics with better lighting soon. Thanks..

Looks great! So, how does it ride compared to stock? I guess you had it aligned?
P_RsTahoe

Yeah I had it alligned this morning. The ride is a little stiffer, but not bad. I personally like it better. Only issue now is there is a little rubbing with the splash guards under the fender and the tires when I turn. I'm about to trim them.

What size are the tires you have on there? Lastly, what is the offset of your wheels? Thanks.
P_RsTahoe

I want to say that the offset is 35. I think the actuall offset is supposed to be 31. But my wheels are perfectly alligned with the fender and it rides perfect compared to the ones I had on before from my old 03. I didnt like my old ones because they stuck out too much. Tire size is 285/45/22.

The overall tire size on yours is very close to mine! How bad is the rubbing? Mine currently rub only in reverse with the wheels cranked.
Where did you say you got your kit? How much?

Is your truck lowered? I got my kit from streetpros.com. 488.33 shipped. It rubs in turns in the rear tires and in reverse like yours. I put my hand inside my rear tires and its really close to the plastic peice. Ill just trim them.

No, mine isnt lowered. Just with 24's and factory height. But mine already rub in the front, in the back side of the fenderwheel. The inner part of the tire rubs in reverse when cranked hard.
You say yours are rubbing in the rear. I am guessing you are talking about the inside of the well, backside of the tire, or the top of the wheel well?
How much trimming you going to have to do? I just want to lower mine, but I dont want to lower it and have all kinds of rubbing issues.

Yup, inside of the well both front and back of the tire. I wont have to trim that much. If its rubbing now, it may rub more once you lower it. I have seen tahoes with 24's lowered. Im not sure if they did stuff for the rubbing. Whats your offset?
biglg
1/25/2007 4:37:56 PM
My offset is +31. My tire size is 305/35/24. I wish I could find someone with the exact same set up so I could see exactly how bad the rubbing was, and how much trimming or well removal was needed.

I know what you are saying about having someone with exact set up to answer all questions. But if you are anything like me and you want to lower the truck its going to bug you till you do lower it. Using the McGhaughys kit is fairly simple and if you dont like it you can always go back to stock. Just make sure you keep all the stock hardware that you dont use with the kit. I will tell you the worst part about lowering was the drive to the shop to get it alligned. It drove super nasty with the allignment way off. Good luck.

I am glad to see you got it done. It looks great. I know what you mean about the drive to the alignment shop. I did not think I was going to make it when I drove mine there, but it got done. I am just waiting a little bit before I trim my rear inner finder wells. I want to see exactly where it rubs and then cut it out.

I was going to trim today, but I like your idea better. Waiting to see where its rubbing then trim. Is yours rubbing in the back as well? I was just looking at pictures of your truck. It looks nice. What size are your wheels and tires? Are those the headset DVD from GM? I priced them today and they run 1900.00. I like how they look but I dont think Im spending 1900 for them. I may go to a stereo shop and have one of the overhead system installed.

Yes it rubs in the back when I turn fast or hit a bump. Not bad just a little.

Ebay has them for around 800 for the pair. I believe they are even GM brand!
