Is This Tahoe Actually Real?

First off, I would like to say that I am a new member here, an owner of a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado K1500, and a proud Chevrolet enthusiast.

I was searching eBay and came across a 2000 model second generation Chevrolet Tahoe (not like the C/K style of the 90's), apparently with the Z71 AND LS package!  I origionally thought the Z71 package wasn't offered on this generation of Tahoe or Suburban until 2001, and only in LT trim.  My question is, do you think someone just threw Z71 badging on this vehicle or is it indeed a rare 2000 model Z71 LS with the factory skid plates, suspension and everything?  And if it is real, are there any of you Tahoe enthusiasts on here who could give me some numbers on how many of these were produced with these package combinations?  Any help would be appreciated.  Below I have posted the eBay auction number. (hope this doesn't violate any forum rules)

I'm new to this forum too, from the picture you attached, it does seem pretty obvious that it does not have the Z71 roof rack, nor the side steps!  If you were serious about purchasing, I would at least check out the vehicle if possible and get the RPO codes from the glovebox, or if the seller is not close have them ship you those codes!  That would help  you distinguish if its a true Z71 or not.  I believe one of the moderators (think ZX) posted what the RPO codes stand for.

Welcome to the Tahoe forum.  Good advice, misonido.  Also from what I've heard, it's not a good idea to buy a used vehicle on ebay sight unseen.

Maybe the same guy that was selling Bose stickers for non-bose systems was selling Z-71 stickers as well.

I bought my Tahoe on ebay a few years ago.  The truck was in Atlanta and I am in PA so I had Auto Appraisers Group look it over and provide a report.  Well worth the price.

No such thing as an LS Equipment Group Tahoe with Z71 Supesnion Package in the GMT800 or GMT900 models.
Somebody got hold of the decals.

Thanks for the help, guys.  (I wasn't looking seriously at buying this one btw, just curious.)

I could be wrong, but I think my 2003 Z71 Tahoe is an LS package. Am I reading my RPO's wrong?

Where are you getting "LS" from this sticker?

The 1SL option code signifies an LT package, what do think, that I make this stuff up?

In the 2003 shop manual, it states SLT as the LT packaging RPO code.

Is that something different?

Is this consumer guide mistaken?

http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2004-chevrolet-tahoe-and-suburban-2.htm

It lists the LT packaging as the 1SM code. Granted, this is 2004 and mine is an 2003. Did it change over the years?

Or:

http://www.intellichoice.com/reports/vehicleReport/vehicle_nmb/10131/section/packages/type/used/2003/Chevrolet/Tahoe

It lists the 2003 LT as being 1SM.

Am I misreading something in combination with RPO Z71?

I simply asked a question regarding identification.

The thought of you making stuff NEVER entered my mind.

Why would YOU make that up? Simply because I asked a question?

I know this sounds crazy, but in the 2000 model year, the new body style GMT800 series were available with a Z71 suspension option even with the LS package.  However, it did not come with the decals or any sort of different running boards or leather seats.  If I'm not mistaken, it was simply the shocks/springs that were different.  So the decal was added by someone afterwards, it wouldn't have come that way.

The only reason I know is because I ordered my 2000 GMC Yukon in late '99, it was a 2wd SLE package (same as LS on the Tahoe) and the Z71 suspension WAS an option on it.  It has no Z71 decal, you'd never know it had the Z71 suspension unless you saw the factory window sticker.  It was only a couple hundred dollars extra.

So yes, the 2000 Tahoe could indeed have a Z71 suspension, but it wouldn't have the decals.  I don't think the Z71 decals and leather seats and tube running boards didn't show up until the '01 or '02 models.

True. The Z71 suspension was offered on 2wds without the trim package. The Z71 badges came with the trim package.

There is more then one code that can have a similar meaning depending on the way a vehicle is ordered.
In your Tahoe's case RPO 1SL signifies Proffered Equipment Group Z71 which is only available with LT equipment, if you had just a plain LT it would be 1SM and if you had an LS model it would be either 1SJ or 1SK

BTW, Did you not see my winking smiley guy in the previous post?

The GMT800 Tahoe was NEVER OFFERED with a Z71 Package or SUSPENSION OPTION in LS trim in either 2 or 4 Wheel drive.!
If you don't believe my then lets see your VIN # and I'll post a breakdown of your window sticker.

The previous GMT400 Version was offered with both a Z71 Package (1999 and 2000 four-door models) and on earlier 2-Door models a simple Z71 Suspension option similar to what was originally offered on the trucks.

ZX,

I still don't see your smiley face in the previous post, but that's ok...I know I am the new guy and I know I am here to learn.

I guess I just see a lot of LT options that my Z71 did NOT come with, such as:

No heated dual power seats with memory
No auto climate control
No adjustable pedals
No third row bench
No satellite radio
No garage door opener

So I guess I always assumed I didnt have the LT trim. But I learn everyday.

I can't find my window sticker from my 00 Yukon, but I do have the original dealer brochure showing it as an available option.

Let's have the VIN.

The brochure simply shows that the Z71 suspension was available in 2000 but in all actuality the Z71 Tahoe GMT800 wasn't available until late in the 2001 model year.

In 2000 Chevy produced both the GMT400 and GMT800 Tahoe, the older GMT400 model was offered only in Z71 trim while the new style GMT800 showed a Z71 package option it was not made available until the 2001 model year.

I can recreate your window sticker with the VIN.
