Lol, good luck.  I really like the cover.  I dont think the design is the best.  How it bulges out isnt the best looking cover I would have invisioned, but it is far better than the hitch showing!

Would you say its identical in looks to the one at the chevy parts counter?

Yep, it is the exact same one at the chevy parts counter.  The one I got from the ebayer I posted sells them and they are authentic GM OEM parts!  I cant remember what the price was from my dealer.  I think around 85!  GM parts direct has them for 76+10sh.  I got mine for 70 shipped from that ebay seller.  SO that is for sure the best route to go.  Just shoot him an email and tell him a buddy, or mention Landon just bought the white one and told you to contact him.  He should hook you up with the same 60 deal.  Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks biglg.  I just sent your buddy an email with a request for dark blue metallic hitch cover.  Where would I find my paint code?  I just looked all over my truck and it must be late becasue I was not able to locate it>

Thanks Tahoe07.  Where does GM put the code on our trucks (its driving nuts because I spent 30 minutes looking for it in the dark a few hours ago and now I am challenged)

The REAL code is in the glove box.  It is on the bottom line next to last code on mine, I believe.

I have a paint code list from the dealer.  You know, one of those postcard sized cards with a line of color and the codes.  Most of the time that will get you what you need.  Some companies want the other code.  I think it is 817K for mine as opposed to the 63U that most call it.

Thanks, I glanced in there earlier tonight and figured it would have a notation about it being a paint code, but I am sure its in with the other 100 codes on the sticker.

Try this link to find possible numbers.  The VERY BOTTOM number on my glove box list was the 817K found on this list should you need that code for something...link didn't work

Doesn't it slide to install and take off? If so, if you paint the seal, you could damage the paint on your bumper cover.

Yes, it does slide!  I dont think I am going to paint it.  I dont think painting the rubber seal would cause any damage.  HOwever, when it slides it would be rubbing and may be almost impossible to keep paint on it!  I am just going to leave it as is!  Thanks!

Notice anything different from the first picture, compare to the 2nd and 3rd?  Thanks tahoe07!

10X better!!

It just makes sense to do this if you are colormatching anything else-bowtie etc.  While the paint is flowing...

I dont know if it is the amount of paint, or what.  But the arm section with actual wiper doesnt seem to flex the same way it did.  The wiper doesnt always touch 100 of the window.  It seems there isnt enough pressure to now flex the blade onto the window.  Have you watched yours while it is going??  Maybe it will get better over time.  But this is my only issue with painting it.  As for the looks, it looks great.  However the function was affected.  But I hardly use it and would take the look over the function of the rear wiper anyday!

Mine was not effected.  I made sure to move it between coats like I said in the e-mail.

Let it dry for awhile then run it through its' range of motion.  I also let mine dry in the sun for a few days before re-install.  I put it inside the family room by the french doors and "baked" it for two days.

Maybe it will get better after time when it fully cures.  I probably should have waited longer than 10 hours to install it!  However, I get anxious!

It isnt the end pieces that dont flex.  It is like the area where the end attaches to the big bar.  The entire end section!  That area!  I probably just need to let it dry a little and then go move it around numerous times hopefully loosing it up.  That or maybe some lube right on that area!  To much friction (paint) in between the contact area!  I dont really mind, I wont use it very often.  But it doesnt function 100% effectively!

mzfree is the user name.  Here is my auction.

I noticed he had sold them.  He lists them starting bid at 60 and buy it now at 70.  I emailed him, he listed a white one for me and told me to bid the 60 and he would then end the auction to the current high bidder.  Just tell him there is a guy/friend you know that just got a white one from him and tell him what you are looking for.  He is a good seller, ships fast, and replies fast!  Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks.

Thanks for this info

I scraped the paint from the tabs that insert into the slots for that joint.  I did tape it off but figured it would be easier to scrape it after than to get the perfect tape job.  So I removed the tape and painted it all only to scrape the paint before re-assembly.

Maybe you can take it apart and remove some paint. Wait a little to let the paint cure first though.

Just tell them Landon sent you.  He will take care of you!

I think that is what I need to do!  That is the only joint that I have any problems with!  By the way, you left that out of your "how to."

No biggie!  I actually took it off and trimmed the paint off the areas where it rubbed.  You can actually see the spots where it rubs.  I am going to now touch up a couple spots, then let it dry.  I will leave it off longer this time!  HOwever, I tried it after I removed the paint causing the rubbing and it worked perfectly.  SO it will be fixed once I finally get it painted to my perfection.  Just a couple very minor spots I wanted to touch up.  So back to the drawing board!  Will be done in a few hours!  Thanks again for your help!
