I side latch works outside don't

A linkage part or something in the inside of the truck(non visible) is broken. I have to roll the window down every time and pull the outside door handle to open the door. do the 1988 and 1998 silverado truck have interchangeable door components?

yes they are. there is a metal bar that came off. its probly a small plastic clip that holds it on that is easy to replace once you get to it.
