hey how are you all doing, im new here and its a pretty sweet lookin web site, i was wondering thou if any of you have been playing around with hydrogen, me and one of my friends have been playing around with it for quite a while now, who would have guessed its explosive eh lol, i finally got a system that works quite well but i havent hooked it up too one of my trucks yet, just interested to see what you guys have to say

How exactly did you get that to work? What are the principal part of it?

hey im glad to see people are interested, its actaully quite simple, you can use elecricty to break water down into hydrogen and oxygen, water by itself is a very poor conductor so if you add salt or baking soda to water it makes it conduct alot better, i have a container that is sealed, i have 2 rods going into the container that are attached to stainless steel plates inside, half the plates are negativly charged and the others positively chargered, so basically i use 12 volts and around 20 amps and it starts creating gas, i have a tube coming off the top which i then put into my air induction system. i fill up little pop bottles with this stuff and make little rockets lol, but you are creating hyrdogen which is a very powerful gas, about 10 times more powerful than gasoline and your creating oxygen that supports combustion so away you go, it is hard to create enough hydrogen to power a car completly on water although some people claim to have done it, but if you still run gasoline you can add this and most people say they get about a 50% increase in mileage

i am definitely interested in how this works out

yah them big blocks aint gettin any cheaper to drive, im making a system for my dads truck right now, its a mazda 4 cyl and i'll let you guys know how well it works, some people i no down south have been separating the gas into straight hydrogen and putting it in to compressed tanks, so they make torches, but hydrogen is so powerful that the check valves on regular cutting torches arnt fast enough for hydrogen so you have to be very careful, must have been sucked to be the first person to find that out lol, but your negativly charged plates give off hydrogen so they have like a 2 jar system to store pure hydrogen, i myself am not interested in torches i want the fuel economy, youtube also has alot of video showing these kind of things

I've always wondered how exactly that works. Thanks for clarifying! It pretty much adds a whole new step to the engine process.  Does the hydrogen produce as much explosion as gasoline inside the engine? Does the compression have to be changed? How fast can the water hydrogenize?

if air pressure and everything is equal hydrogen is 10 times more powerful than gasoline, compression ratio does not have to be changed, timing however is advanced more, if you try and run a lawn mower off hydrogen it wont start because the timing is so much more different but theres ways to work around that, engines that run on hydrogen do not ping and tend to run smother, but like i said it is hard top produce enough hydrogen to run a engine completely off water, so right now i've been trying to make the most efficent system possible, i guess really hydrogen is like running a more powerful version of propane

Thats very interesting! How big is the system?
I want to maximize my knowledge about this because the question about this has come up in the past.

the system is not very big, the container i have is about ten inches tall and 8 inches in diamter, so thats easy enough to mount underneath the hood, then you run a relay for your power to turn it on, now some guys who say that they run their engines on straight hydrogen say that as they step on the gas they have a switch that sends the units more amps..but i can seem to produce enough hydrogen for that yet

That is really something, I feel like Im back in college in the chem lab.  Where the hell is my bundsen burner?? LOL  Where did you come up with this idea?
chev4by
3/13/2008 2:42:03 PM
lol hey i just got out of high school and they dont teach you nothing like this in chem, i've been researching it for over a year now, it wasnt my idea, i just found it interesting so i kept on looking into it, my dad however is quite creative and he has always been telling me about hydrogen so i finally started looking into it, there are alot of websites out there that will tell you more about it, guys have been murdered thou who have presented their ideas to the government so im not trying to patent anything lol

a guy here has a new chev full size pickup with a v8 i think a 6l and he gets 33mpg with a 50 dollar kit he bought off the internet

chev4- id love to read more about it, its interesting but a little intimidating- if you have any links put them up and the 50.00 kit would be cool to look at too

send me your email and i will send you links and fill you in with more information, im going to put my 2wd back on gas and instead of having to run premiem i can run regular and use hydogen because its boosts your octane, i also want to get a seperator on my fuel line and a air induction system that has a fan that swirls the air, and maybe elecrtic fans to cool it, after i have all that done that truck should get 40mpg atleast on the highway, charles nelson progue invented a carb in 1936 that would give a model A 205 mpg...thats decent, that carb consisted of 3 sets of butterfly vavles, it would be neat to get the plans to build it, some guys have built it and they cant get there car to idle down, i dont no if its getting too much fuel do to like a leak or whether it mixxes the fuel that well...anyways its interesting

Please share the information here on the forum! I'd love to make a FAQ out of it...

Chev4-I checked it out, it is really exciting not only for the money aspect of saving but for the environment as well.  Im gonna give it a shot.  Do you know how much it costs for the materials to make the kit?

hey im glad people are interested, im not no enviormentalist but i do like to help save it, well i bought stainless steel ready rod for 1 dollar and that was 3 feet, i had a huge sheet of stainless steel kicking around so it didnt cost me nothing to build, i just need to find a decent container, the materials should cost like 20 bucks im guessing maybe 30, if you want to make a torch the line you have coming off the container you fill with bronze steel wool, but theres more too it than that i'll tell you if your more interested, i'll add some pictures tmoorrow of what my system looks like to give you an idea, when you do have a system setup you have to add baking soda because water doesnt conduct very well, so the amount of baking soda you add controlls how many amps it will pull and now much HHO gas it will create...good luck

if you guys want i can give you sites on the fuel serperators and special air systems too, they are supposed to help quite a bit, i've been looking at them for a while too finally found what I think is the best out of everything

yeah definately put those links up.  the containers i have seen online as i was reading were all glass, what is yours made of?  i cant think of a reason why it needs to be glass unless there is something I am not thinking of besides being able to see how much water is left in it but i think a good quality plastic container would be better.

3/29/2008 5:02:20 PM
yah i will put up those links, mine is made out of plastic, if you use pvc pipe you can have a tube on the side that connects at the top and bottom to show the water level, when you have a system setup too you should have another container that the hydrogen goes into and bubbles in, this helps prevent flashbacks and cleans the gas, im still searching thou for a good container to use

Cool, since it works on vaccuum how do you make sure you dont suck water down the line and into your intake?

ehhget, have you bought the book yet? If so, is it worth it? and does it come in the mail or is it a download?

if you have a cold air intake you just tap into to side of that, i would not hook it up directly to a vacuum line cause my buddy did that and it sucked in water lol

For those of you who are interested in a commercial-grade system rather than a homebuilt unit, look here:   http://www.getbestmpg.com
