Wife has an '05 LT, my question is, at 75 MPH the car is right around 2500 rpms. On my Malibu I barely get 2100 at 80 MPH, would anyone check on their Equinox to see if this is the same on theirs or if its lower rpm at 75 mph than 2500 rpms.
Thanks for the help.

Your RPM's sound right, I know of an Intrepid that does 2200 @ 65mph. Your Malibu does less RPM and faster probably because its smaller and lighter, and the Malibu has a newer engine.
P.S. How do you know it does 75 @ 2500, anyway?

Take care and God bless,

Hoppe,
Thanks for the info, I have been told that the equinox being heavier the cruising rpm's would be a little higher than as you mentioned the lighter Malibu.
I knowit does around 2500 when I drive her Equinox on the highway crusing at 75 with the cruise control. The equinox comes with a tachometer.
Thanks again

Correct me if I'm wrong but Malibu has a 4-speed automatic and the Equinox has a 5-speed automatic. The gear ratios are different, and the final drive ratios are different, so the odds of having the same RPM's with these two vehicles at the same speed is probably not going to happen. Even if the overall drive ratio was the same, different tire sizes (height) would give one vehicle more speed at a given RPM than the other.
I do think they set up the Eq's engine to run more RPM's due to the SUV body and more weight, it needs RPM's. The Malibu, on the other hand, has better areo and less weight and can run a higher final drive ratio which typically will reduce RPM's and increase fuel economy.
