I had after-market speakers installed in my 2005 Aveo 3-door LT a few years ago but I just noticed a hole in the center of the firewall that lets in hot air and sometimes my feet get splashed when it''s raining!

Is the hole there from the factory and the installers just forgot to replace some kind of plug or did they drill through the firewall? The hole looks to be factory as it is a very clean cut with a rubber o-ring around it.

I guess my question is what is the proper terminology to search for the factory part...I''ve Googled "firewall plug" with no luck.

Grommet... there is supposed to be a grommet in the hole.

Check with the dealership parts desk and get the guy at the parts desk to actually look at the hole and see what grommet is supposed to be there because there are several grommets in the firewall in various areas. If they don''t have the part, you can just measure it and get one at the hardware store in your area.

Sounds like the drilled a hole and put a plastic grommet in there to prevent chaffing the wires.
Get some stip caulking and stuff the hole. Its kind of like play-do. It seals really good and stays plyable

Duct tape will hold for a few days until you can get it done too.
