Hope someone can help with this one. I've got a 2007 Silverado Classic 1500 4wd. When I pull my trailer the rear sags down and the trailer is all over the place when I hit bumps. I had airbags in my previous truck but they made the ride totally harsh. My wife couldn't stand it. Any ideas?

Also, I heard of a unit called Roadmaster Active Suspension thats supposed to keep the rear end from drooping when the truck is weighted down and doesn't make the ride stiff. They say it even improves handling and ride even when not carrying a load. Anyone out there know of this? Sounds like it should fix my problem, but I'm not familiar with it.

Thanks.

how heavy is your trailor....Air bags DO NOT INCREASE GVW....they only level your truck out if your overweight then your everweight...that would be my guess..... is a ball hitch or goose neck, (5th wheel) hitch.....need some more info here.......

I am using a ball hitch. Towing a 22' Sea-Ray on a single axle trailer. About a 450 lbs. tongue weight.

Thanks.

sea ray as in boat???.....that should not be that heavy.....is your truck a 4.8 or 5.3.....and what gearing is the rear end although the gear ratio would not make a diff on saggin and waggin all over the place......the air bag problem of rough ride was prolly becuse you did not air them down after you took the trailor off......if they are air downed it should ride like factory almost.....is it a Reg cab or EXT cab truck....

if it is a say reg cab short box with a V6, then your problem would make a little sense, but taht boat should only weight about 2800 lbs give or take....still need osme more info

1/2 tons. great light duty but for anything significant a 3/4 and 1 ton is the way to go. Did you get the hd package?

when i did own a chevy truck, it was a 3/4 HVY EX CAB LONG BED W/ 2ND TRANS COOLER.  ran it to almost 100k before trade in for the wifes 3500 15 pass express.

Yeah it's a 1/2 ton but you should be able to add a leaf in the rear and tighten that up a bit.

It's not that much weight.  No need for a 1 ton to haul that.

if youre so CHEVY, then why is your avatar showin a suzuki cheap jeep??

I will not get sucked into a pissin match of "my truck can tow more than yours". not worth it.

as for chevy 1/2'ers towin more than a dodge 3/4, Id like to see the specs on that.

you have to realize that theres a HUGE diff between gasser rating and CUMMINS rating!

ya no **** and the GM Dmax can out tow the cummings to.....the Samurai is actually my buddies, I gots a Jeep, it is strictly for off road....I will admit GM does not make an good off roader outside the Hummers, and I cant afford one of those so I will stick to my Jeep....

not getting into a pissing match either but you dodge guys are in here having some fun bashing the GM and braggin the dodge up, reality is GM beats them in every catagory......Im just stating facts.  If you want to brag them up I would not do it in here.....you will get wasted by the guys who know their products....dodge cant come close to competing with GM as far as trucks or cars go for that matter....

Man you guys told the GMers not to get all twisted about the 'fun' and here you are all upset that the GM are better....I just stating facts

lets start with the things dodge dont offer standard....

locking rear diff
onstar
stabilitrak
auto headlights (I may be wrrong on this one they did NOT as of 06)
independent front (2500 and up better ride)
6 speed tap shift

for a few.....as for towing and the like....

Dodge has with the hemi Up to 9,100-lb towing capacity

GM can tow up to 10,500 in a 1/2 ton

HP Dodge has with is hemi 330 hp

GM 367hp 6.0

shall I go on.....

It must be a weird build Stabilitrac does not come on 2500 and up.....now maybe in 05 it was an option for them, I cant remember that far back, but if it does it most definately has a button to turn it off......

and LOL how is stating facts making a pissing match...you asked I provided....

and on another note HUNT it sounds like your truck is over weight but I still dont kow what kind of truck you have, regular cab, or engine size or whatever.......you are not going to make it safe to drive if its over weight all the bags are going to do is level it out, if its overweight the front is still going to wonder on you...

MalibuMaxxSS how is my truck over weight? I have a 1500 ext cab 5.3L z-71. I put the roadmaster active suspension on not air bags. I was just posting that this is what i put on my truck to help with towing and what not.

I checked out Roadmaster Active Suspension too. Had it installed and it works great. Makes it much more stable without making the ride stiff when I'm towing. I had sacks of gravel in the bed another day (without the trailer) and it kept the rear level, and you could feel the handling was much more stable. Another cool thing is it makes the truck corner flatter - even without a load. It makes it handle much more sporty. Of course not like my Acura Integra Type R, but definitely alot better. Also, I used to get wheel hop at low parking lot type speeds when turning and booting the gas. That went away. I'm diggin this set up! Lemme know how it works for you.

I just dont get how your truck is 'sagging' and 'wondering' with a little boat on there, I did not know the kind of truck you had till you just posted this .......with a Z71 and 5.3 you really should not need the air bag setup, it will help no doubt....how heavy is your boat. maybe Im missing something here, it should be around 3500 lbs full of fuel and everything.....or maybe Im thinking of a wrong boat....
