ok people, i need help!!
i need to fix my truck today
this morning my truck just died.. i was driving along and then i press the gas more down and my truck just dies..
once i'm off to the side of the road i try to re-start the truck and it just turns over.. (cranking) acting like it wants to start up but something is stopping it from starting
i know its not the battery, the alt, starter... but what could stop it from starting???????
does the fuel pumps go out often on these trucks??
maybe a sensor keeping it from starting?
you guys got any ideas that i should be looking at?????
any help please!!!
You need to check to see if you have fire and if you have fuel. Tracking the problem starts with that.

Well ... your truck needs 3 things to start and run :
air
fuel
spark
... start with those.

To check spark, get a spark checker, there around $7 at napa or a store like that.

when you crank, it should hold pressure in the rail, get a fuel pressure gauge.

My spark checker is 13 years old, the conversation goes something like this: "Come over here boy, lick your hand and hold onto this thing for a minute".
It upsets my wife but saved me a trip to the store and 7 bucks.

to check ur spark just take out a plug and ground it to the block by putting the end on the block. get someone to turn the key and watch for a spark.
