i need to wire in a distributor,there are 3 wires in the cap plug,pink.black and brown,which goes to the ignition,which is the ground and what is the 3rd(tach) ty pete

Are you talking about the three wires coming out of the base of the distributor?
These would go to the connector at the top of the cap ...so when looking at the cap it would be :
Brown - left
Black - center
Pink - right
